POWER PROGRESS.
ENGINEER'S REPORT TO BOARD. In reporting' to the Manawalu-Oroua Power Board yesterday, the chief engineer (Mr. W. A. Waters) htated that in regard to motor installations, the contractors had a great number of motors for milking purposes to bo installed. During the past month thirty new applications for these were, received, and of course were required for next milking season. Service connections. —During the month approximately 85 new consumers received a supply, and the total connected up being 331 for the past, three months. This rate of increase would continue for many months. Work on lines.— Owing to the very bad weather progress had not been as great as we would have liked. The poles were now erected into Pohangina from Ashhurst, while the Bunnythorpe-Kimbol-ton line was well under way, there being many miles of poles erected, while another gang was following up with the wires. The Fitzhcrbert area would be livened up ns soon as the usual inspection by the Post and Telegraph - engineer had been carried out. In the Sanson area, the gang was working in the vicinity of Ohakea. It was expected to start up the Manawatu County Council’s stone crushing plant in a few. days. As far as the demand for motors and lighting was concerned, the consumers were coming on at a faster rate than the Board could cope with the work. In Peilding, which had had the electricity for years, new consumers and extensions to existing installations wore being carried out by the contractors- every day, over 50 existing installations had boon added to in the past three months. In the Kiaranga area, dozens of consumers were having additions made tp their installations, which would all help to use more power. The first shipment of electric ranges was. expected to arrive inside three weeks now. ,
