CANADA AND WEST INDIES.
TERMS OF TRADE TREATY. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.! (Received Thursday. 8.15 p.m.) OTTAWA. July 8. In the trade agreement between the West. Indies and Canada, the former gives Canada tariff preference in flour, butter, cheese, lard, condensed milk, meat, all kinds of fish, apples and potatoes. The agreement provides for two steamship services, with passenger and mail freight fortnightly from Canadian ocean ports all the year round and a second service of smaller vessels from Canadian river ports in the summer and ocean ports in winter. All freight rates are subject to control by the Canadian Government. Toward this service the Indies will contribute £29,000 annually and an additional subsidy for certain calls of steamers. Canada* extends tariff preference to a large list of tropical products.
