METHODIST EXECUTIVE CHIEF TO RETIRE.

REV. M. A. RUGBY PRATT NAMED AS SUCCESSOR. (Special to “Times.”) CHRISTCHURCH, July 9. The Rev. Samuel Lawry, Connexional Secretary to the Methodist Church in New Zealand, who has held that position since 1911, retires from it at the 1927 conference. The Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt, of Palmerston North, will be nominated as his successor. Since Mr. Lawry took up the position 14 vears ago, 'the work has practically doubled, due in part to the amalgamation of the Primitive Methodist Church with the Methodist Church. When Mr. Lawry retires two years hcnco he will have completed 50 years in the’ work of the Methodist Church in New Zealand. Mr. Lawry was minister of the Broad street Methodist Church for four years from 1900.
