MILLERTON MINERS STRIKE

ALLEGED INEQUITABLE SELECT. ING OF MEN. [Per Press Association.! WESTPORT, Last Night. The Millerton correspondent of the “Westport Nows” wires: "At a special meeting of the Millerton Miners’ Union, a discussion arose concerning the''- employment of men awaiting work in the colliery. The Union demands more equitable selection when employment is available and wantJ all men to be put on in their turn, in the order of application. The local management is employing men suitable for the form of work that is required and as a consequence, trouble has arisen. It was decided the men should remain idle until the manager ceased to differentiate in his methods of the selection of men, as suggested by the Union, and a strike has now been declared.”
