FOOTBALL FUSION

Horowhenua Agrees COUNTRY OUTVOTES LEVIN There was a big meeting of delegates to the Horowhenua Rugby Union last evening at Levin when the question, of amalgamation came up for final decision about forty being present from Foxton, Shannon, Levin, Otaki; Manakau and minor clubs. Mr. Rewi Moynlhan, of Shannon, put the case for Amalgamation along the lines aready published. Most of the argument centred round the question of representation on the joint management committee, Levin delegates arguing for even representation. Mr. Bob George, the veteran Maori player, made an eloquent appeal for fusion in the interests of the younger players. He said he had been playing representative football for twentythree years and had never travelled further than Wanganui or Wellington. “Harry Jacob would never have been known outside Horowhenua," he said, “if he had not gone to Australia with the native team." The motion in favour of amalgamation was carried by 27 votes to 10.
