FULLER COFFERS EMPTY.
WHAT LANG FOUND, PREMIER ON TREASURY METHODS. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] SYDNEY, June 20. Mr Lang, the Premier, states that there is no surplus in the State finances. He said his inquiries had made it clear that if the Treasury prepared its accounts in the way an honourable business man would, no surplus could be shown. Marions statements had been made that the Puller Government was leaving behind a surplus of half a million. “Any business,” he, said, “can show a surplus if it omits from the accounts sufficient liabilities.” ABOLITION OF DEATH PENALTY. 44 HOURS’ WEEK BILL. . SYDNEY. June 20. The Government proposes to introduce a Bill in the present Parliament to abolish the death penalty. Mr Lang announced that he Intends to put forward immediately a Bill to reinstate the 44 hours’, week.
