EGYPTIAN OFFICIALS

LEAVING UNCONGENIAL JOBS. FOREIGN COMMUNITY PERTURBED. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Monday, 7 p.m.) CAIRO, Dec. 22. The Egyptian authorities are much concerned over the situation in the Civil Service. A largo number of foreign officials are accepting the option to retire in April. This is the outcome of the uncongenial position in which they were placed under the late Zaghlulist regime. The new Government is doing its best to remedy, the situation, but the mischief Is already done. The retirements particularly affect the technical services and police force. The departure of British officers is regarded with serious apprehension by the foreign communities, who do not consider Egyptian officers of the police force sufficient to assure protection.
