Thousands of Casualties in Morocco
RETREATING TROOPS SUFFER SEVERELY

The serious plight of the retreating Spaniards in Morocco is indicated by the fact that in the last movement 20,000 Avere killed, wounded or missing and also several thousand taken prisoner. 0
There are still 120,000 Spanish troops in Morocco, costing £200,000 daily.
The rising of the Anjcra tribe, hitherto friendly, is stated to be due to a Spanish aeroplane bombing a chief’s dAvelling. M. Briand, on being interviewed at Rome by a -’“Daily Express” correspondent, said that a combined British, Italian and French conference would be held shortly, chiefly lo discuss North African problems.

Anjcra tribesmen captured Alcazarseguer, a port on the Straits of Gibraltar, after a two days’ siege, thus menacing the Spaniards who are falling back on Tetuan.
