SIX MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT. George Colemam, alias Waterman, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., that on or about March 23, at Foxton, ho did steal a diamond ring, valued at £l7. the property of Mary Griffen. Accused, who was unrepresented by counsel, pleaded guilty. Detective-Sergeant Quirko stated that accused. stayed at tho Manawatu Hotel, Foxtan, on the night of March 22, and next day the ring was missed.. Mary Griffen. wife of the proprietor of the Manawatu Hotel,, gave evidence on these lines. Accused, who asked for a light sentence, was convicted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, to bo concurrent on prisoner’s other term of three months imposed the day pre. vious.
