INSURANCE OF PLAYERS

MOTION FOB RECONSIDERATION. At the meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Football Union last night, a letter was received from the Western United Club entering a protest against the Union’s ruling in respect to the proposed insurance scheme. The club was of the opinion that the Union’s levy was far too harsh, and that if carried into effect would be detrimental to the club financially. The club was desirous that the Union should abolish the insurance scheme altogether and let the individual players look after their own Insurance, and that the Union should provide free medical attention on the grounds. After a short discussion, Mr W. Carruthers gave notice of motion that the Union’s decision at last meeting in respect to the insurance of players be rescinded, and that the matter be re-considered.
