FOXTON.

A HANDSOME TROPHY. In Mrs Wall’s window is displayed a handsome shield donated by Mr G. Coley, of Poxton, for a billiard competition between the Palmerston North, Peilding, Poxton, and Levin Pire Brigades. On the top Of the shield is a scroll on which is engraved: “The Coley Billiard Shield.” in the centre a silver plate with; “presented by G .Coley, Esq., to the P.N.F.B. for competition with Poxton, Levin and Peilding Pire Brigades, March, 1924." Under this are two crossed billiard cues with billiard balls between, around, the outside are grouped small shields for the name of the winning team annually. These shields are in the shape of a fireman’s helmet, and the whole is a very appropriate trophy, and will be very acceptable to the fire brigades who no doubt will. fully appreciate Mr Ooley’s generosity. Mr R. E. Hornblow ■ (Mayor of Dargaville) was a visitor to Poxton yesterday, and was the guest of his brother, Mr J/ K. Hornblow. During the morning Cr. Coley motored Mr Hornblow to various places of interest including the new municipal buildings.
