Full stocks of prime Kairanga meat with pork and poultry are being dispensed by Mr. D, Collis, who has relinquished farming for a few days to again wield the knife and cleaver in the interest of a good cause. Customers were calling all day while volunteer delivery men fund girls) dc. livered sirloins and shins, livers and legs to all parts of the borough in response to S.O.S. messages over ’phone 5220. Fatigue parties in. a quiet spot were busily removing feathers from poultry and folding post mortems over the remains with a vigour made, evident by the fast diminishing ranks of loudly-protesting ducks and fowls. Across the street in the Oddfellows Hall the ladies, assisted by a few masculine nail drivers, are preparing for the fair which opens at 2 this afternoon and continues afternoon and evening for two days. Admission is free though it '"■ill cost most visitors something to get out. Stalls are laden with needlework, produce, food, etc., and refreshments arc being dispensed.
