AVHOLESALE VALUES. " TIMES " Office; Friday Night. The outstanding;feature of this week is the extraordinary drop in table potatoes. The price has been tumbling down rapidly until to-day the price of Faq whites is nominajly £8 10/- per ton f,o,b. South, a drop of approximately £4 per ton. The Auckland market is congested and every effort is being made in that quarter to' lighten stocks. New Potatoes are declining, in prlci.and in the course of a few weeks old potatoes will be more or less unsaleable. Farirn-i-s in the South, who regret their action in doing so, as' (he fused to accept higher prices ruling at the end of last month, will now roprospect of getting even £5 per ton today is very remote.

Holders of Rangitikei chaff are firm in their ideas of price, and as the quantity is not very largo, there is no prospect of lower values ruling until the new crop is available. Holders, however, are 'inclined to think that higher prices will be reached, but ab Canterbury chaff can be'landed at a little higher in price than that ruling for Rangitikei at the present time, there is not much prospect of farmers getting the £0 or £lO per ton which they are looking for.- As against this, Canterbury chaff is very much super. ior in quality. The season for grass seed is disappointing and sowings are by no means as heavy as anticipated. This, no doubt, is due to the late season. However, there is still time for improve, ment. .

With regard to wheat, the tendency for this is to weaken, a drop of Jd. pc» bushel having taken place during the past week. Other markets remain the came.
