Dense volumnes of black smoke Issuing from the gas company's property at 4.35 p.m. yesterday*, was responsible for the violent ringing or the fireball. Two vehicles quickly turned-out and on arrival found that a large tank of tar had boiled over and ignited*. The names were quicks suffocated and beyond the loss of * little tar, no damage was doire. The annual re-union of the Feilding Hookey Association took place last evening, the Mayor, Mr.: J. % Tingey, presiding. Among those present of the oltfer players' were .Messrs. 11. W. Reed, R. Cobbe and' W. Carthew. There was a large attendance and during the evening the-Mayor took the opportunity of presenting the. Association's Cup to the Marton Clu», which won the men's competition last season. A lengthy toast list was honored and reference made to the great progress of the association, and its tournament last season drew 300 players from all parts of the Wellington district. 'Mention was made also of the success of the schools' tourney inaugurated by the association, which last season was contested by over 200 children.
