STATE DEPARTMENTS SUPERSEDED. [By Electric Cable—Copyright] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Monday, 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 1. Important sections of the Navigation Act, conferring larger powers on the Commonwealth, which is superseding the State Department in some functions, come into operation to-day A number of officers of the State service are being transferred to the Commonwealth in view of the change.
