A Rome cablegram announces that the Princess Mafalda is improving, and the Princess Giovanna is out of danger.
Mr P. R. Fordham, of Tokomaru Buy, who has been spending a short holiday in Palmerston North, returned home yesterday. Influenza is claiming a belated hold upon the more vigorous members of the community. Captain Preece has been confined to his house for a few days. Sergeant M. Kyne, of the local police force, in charge of the district office, has tendered his resignation from the force. The Sergeant intends Opening up a business in the North. A Sydney message states that Dame Margaret Davidson, in a message of thanks to the people, said. "The wonderful sympathy given mo and the marks of true affection and respect always shown to my husband, especially yesterday's tribute, shall never bo forgotten."
