DANCE AT AORANGI.
A successful fancy dress dance and musical ,entertainment was held at Parker Bros.’ Hall, Aorangi, on Wednesday evening, there being over Kin residents present, the majority of who appeared in fancy regalia. The hall was decorated with flags and ferns, and the music was provided by Mr. Hide’s string orchestra. The grand march music was supplied by Mr. McLeod on his pipes, and Misses McLeod, Rossiter and Grantham gave an exhibition of Scotch dancing. Songs and recitations were- interspersed and thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent. The fancy dresses were well executed and Mesdames R. Cobbe and A. E. Sandford (the judges) had a difficult task in deciding on the, prize winners. First poster prize went to Miss Dewar, who represented “ Creamota”; first fancy to Miss Margery Benge, as “Dick Whittington”; second fancy to Miss O’Sullivan, as “.Man's Ruination"; men’s prize to Mr. G. Fitzgerald as “An English Gentleman,” and a special prize, donated lay' Mrs. Cobbe, was awarded to Master Elble Robins, who appeared as “ Edmonds’ Baking Powder.” A few of the dresses particularly noted were: Mrs. Robins “ Cooper’s Seeds,” Miss Dcvonport “ Stars and Stripes,” Miss R. Smith “ Good Luck,” Miss Bongo " Folly,” Molly Brown “ Ruination,” Maggie Brown “Weldon’s Fashions,” V. Brown “ Peach Blossom,” Jean Roy “Irish Colleen,” C. Jewell ‘ Wintry Weather,” E. Price “ Ragtime,” P. Noble “Folly,” M. Herlighy “Night” K. Herlighy “ Christmas Tree.” Bishop “ Pierrette,” M. and K. McLeod “ Scotch Lassies,” Jean Benge “ Irish Colleen,” M. Grantham “ Scotch Lassie,” V. and E. Rossiter “ Scotch Lassies,” Iris Benge “Alsatian Peasant,” B. Benge “ Jap Girl,” D. Tait “ Box Chocolates,” E. Bowater "■ Bottle of Poison,” " Miss I.
