SUPPLY FROM MANGAHAO.

AND QUESTION OF GUARANTEE. Tho aptly termed "burning" Question of guarantee in the supply of "juice" from Mangahao came before the Manawatu-Oro.ua Hydro Electric Power Board yesterday, when correspondence was received from the Public Works Department, asking for an early reply. A lettor was also received from tho Wairarapa Power Board, stating- that Messrs Sykes and McLeod, M.sP v had been advised to interview the Minister upon the question. Mr Nash stated that Wellington and Wairarapa both had big plants, and would later have power to spare. Further, it should bo remembered that it was estimated that the Waikaremoana scheme would be able to transmit power down from Napier, and the poles were being put up between hero and Napier. Personally, Mr Nash did not think it would be wise to take the amount of "juice" suggested by tho Public Works Department, and ho was certain that for tho first year they would be incurring expenditure of several thousands of pounds. He thought the allocation could be left over for the executive to. deal with. Mr J. S. Tingey inquired if any estimate had been prepared, showing the probable income and expenditure of the Board after getting the supply from Mangahao, out it was stated that this had iii Deen done as yet. It was decided to fall in with Mr Nash's suggestion, and to appoint Mr J. S. Tingey to the executive.
