BOROUGH POWER PLANT.
(To the Editor.) Sir,— According to Mr. Black's statement of comparative -costs, the Borough plant appears likely to prove a "white elephant." Will you please give ratepayers the name of the expert who advised our Councillors to install .the plant, and let them know whether he warned the town authorities of possible extravagant costs, or whether they simply floundered into them ? Is the same expert still adviser to the Council ? What have his total emoluments been to date, and how much more are to accrue ? Is it possible a blunder has been committed, and if so, who are responsible for it ? If the Power Board buys the plant, will consumers be loaded with extra charges ? It is interesting to speculate on what may happen, and to imagine the plant may even be made to pay.—l am, etc., RATEPAYER. April 27, 1923. [Through being wrongly addressed, the above letter has only just reached this office.—Ed. " M.D.T."]
