DROWNED WHILE SHOOTING. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night. The Tapanui correspondent of thfc " Otago Daily Times" wires that it seems beyond doubt that Mr. Malcolm Robertson, a well known farmer on Tapanvii Flat, had been drowned in the Pomakaka River. He left his home on Monday morning with a gun and shooting bag and both have been found on the bank of the stream. The gun had been discharged and there was a cartridge in it and footprints of rapid strides indicate that he had shot a shag or duc?c and was recovering it, when he got into difficulties. The stream is in flood and the immediate recovery of the body is unlikely. BOY SUCCUSD3S TO GUN-SHOT WOUND. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. On Sunday, Ivan Sarich, aged 12 years, the son of Mr. J. W. Saric.h. storekeeper, of Leithfield, was shot in the legs by a companion, whose gun went off accidentally when the boys were shooting on the Leithfield Beach. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where the right leg was amputated, but he died within an hour from shock. THRESHING SOLL FATALITY. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. W. Bates, a quarter-caste Maori, single, aged 40 years, was killed at Otantau yesterday afternoon. Bates was employed by Robert Ferrier, a. threshing mill owner, and was riding in a truck behind the engine when he fell, the wheels passing over him. Batr died half-an-hour later.
