Sir Harry Lauder arrived at Wellington yesterday in the Marama, and was accorded a civic reception by the Mayor and representatives of the Rotary and other clubs, and representatives of the Scottish societies. I-Ic met with a most enthusiastic reception.

A motion of condolence with Mr A. Hannay in his recent bereavement in the loss of his wife, was passed at last night's meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union, members standing in silence. The president, Mr A. At yesterday's meeting of committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association Messrs. Jas. Stuckey, of Dannevirke, and Allan Marshall, of Marton, were among those elected as country representatives on the general committee, and they form an interesting link with the past in that they are both sons of original members of the committee, Messrs. Jas. Stuckey, the wellknown Hereford breeder (now residing in England), and J. W. Marshall, of Tutu Totara, Marton.
