RIVER DISTRICT.

BOROUGH COUNCIL REPRESENTATION.

A ...letter was received by the Borough Council last night from the Palmerston North Paver District, intimating that by proclamation the Palmerston North River Board consisted of seven members, three appointed by the borough and three by the county, and pointing out that it now required the confirmation of the present members or the appointment of fresh representatives. Cr Oram moved that the existing members be re-elected. The Mayor said he was opposed to having anybody returned who was not a representative of the Council. Cr. Jackson stated that he would not bo inclined to stand for nomination, because in the past the time had only been wasted. After further discussion, Messrs Hodgens, Fitzherbert and Jackson were elected.
