In our days wc are marc — or less; —moral, so that wc must look to mundane things for the cause and the remedy. I cannot speak for Can. terbury and Otago, but in Marl, borough, one of the principal, if not the only cause of the overflow is the stupid practice of planting the creek beds for hundreds of miles with the useless willow.
