BOWLING NOTES.
(By "Measurer.") The bowling season for 1922.1923 is now practically over. The majority of the greens have not yet been offi. dally closed, but that is a mere matter of form. The northern green is now being topdressed in preparation for next season. This young club has had a very sue. cessful season. The president and committee have set themselves the task of endeavouring to make this one of the best greens, and one of the most popular in the borough. The Mauawatu Club has, during the past season, suffcrod a severe loss to its membcrhip, more so than any other club, owing to the transfer to other centres of Messrs Laurcnson, Pastier, Brackenridge and Clark. Members are continually leaving for other towns. This causes a severe strain to the bowling portion of the club. However the members have a big heart and hope to build up the strength of the club next season The Tokara Club's green will be opened next season for play. Palmerston North will then have five clubs and six greens. This should ensure more competitive games, and no doubt all the clubs during tho off season will try to secure increased membcrsjnp in their ranks.
