IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

PROBABLE POSTPONEMENT TIM, NEXT YEAR. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust, and N.Z. Cable Association,] (Received Sunday. 7.10 p.m.) LONDON, March in. The Colonial Oflicc has still not re. ceived communications from the Dominions definitely agreeing to the sug gested date for conferences between September and November, although the Australian and New Zealand communications imply concurrence. It is authoritatively stated, and the opin. ion is growing, that the Imperial Con. ference may possibly he postponed nn. til next year, owing to the apparent impracticability of a full attendance of Premiers this year. A high authority has pointed out that Mr. Bonar Law’s original proposal contemplated an economic conference independently of the Imperial Conference, Mr. Bonar Law attaches supreme importance to the economic gathering notably in relation to inter-imperial communication and transport and Im. perial preference. It is unofficially suggested that the Dominions might send their Finance Ministers and experts to the Economic Conference, whose recommendations would come before the Imperial Con. ference next year, thereby obviating tho attendance of the Prime Ministers this year.
