TRAIN HOLD-UP.
COWBOYS CHASE ROBBERS. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Tuesday, 7 p.m.) New York, May 15. The Golden State, Limited, the crack passenger, train from .Chicago to Los Angeles, was stopped at Tuscan by eight robbers who placed torpedoes on the track, cutting the train in two. Taking the mail-car five miles along the line, the robbers prepared to dynamite the safe. Harold Stewart, an express messenger, opened fire with a heavy rifle, killing one bandit and injuring two others, and the rest took to flight. A posse of one hundred cowboys is pusuing them towards the Mexican border.
