Carter, Gregory, McDonald and Armstrong were not playing for Australia. The features of the game were the fine bowling by Macartney and Mailey and the splendid fielding of the Australians. Hendry bowled without success, and the batting was slow. The only effective partnership was Hearn and Thomas. The Australians batting was lively and they rattled up the runs, Bardsley’s 66 taking eighty-five minutes.
