BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL.

ANNUAL SPORTS GATHERING. The Palmerston North Boys’ High School conducted its eighteenth annual sports meeting on the school grounds yesterday in fine but cold weather. The meeting was a most successful one, and mxny visitors were present, amongst whom were members of the Board of Directors, parents of the scholars, and scholars from the Girls’ High School. The events were run off without a hitch by the teachers, who were ahiy assisted by the games committee, which consisted of Messrs A. Law, L. Stannard, D. Brophy, G. Butler and W. Eyre. A. Law, who showed great form, and ran consistently throughout the day, won the senior championship challenge cup presented by the Board of Governors, with an aggregate of 20 points. G. Butler and P. Bennett, with 13 points each, were the runners-up. The junior championship was won b'/ Rodgers, who scored 10 1-3 points, while W. Somerville was a close second, with an aggregate of 9 points. Albion, with the highest number of points, won the senior clubs’ championship, and Phoenix were easily first for the junior points gvent. The following trophies were awarded for the various other events: —Hornblow Cup, for most points in junior championship, was won by Rodgers; the Basil Hodder Memorial Cup, for one mile championship, and the Empire Cup, for the half-mile championship, were both awarded to G. Butler; while the Fleming Cup, for the 440 yards championship, and the Glendinning Cup, for the 100 yards and 220 yards championship, were both won by A. Law. Saywell, by doing the 75 yards in 8 4-ssec., was the only competitor to “break” a record, while A. Law’s time of 17 4-ssec., was equal to D. Johnstone’s 1920 record for the 120 yards hurdles event.
