RACES POSTPONED.

TPer Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Last Night. The Winton races which were' to have begun to-day were postponed till to-morrow and Monday owing to unfavourable weather. NOTES. (By "Avis.”) Macduff is still amiss as a result of the bad bump he got in the C.J.C. Fendalton Handicap, and it will be a good while before he races again.

When contesting the Wanganui Gup last autumn, Punka grot so badly galloped on that little hope was held out of her racing again. According to latest reports she is once more in work, and may sport silk at Ashhurst next week.

Tangalooma, who won the Wil. liamstown Cup on November 7th, was ridden by the ex-New Zealander, HCairns. According to the Sydney “Referee,” Cairns is leaving Australia on a trip to New Zealand on December 14th, and will 'Tide at the Auckland Cup Meeting.

Sasanof having wound up with a weight for age victory at seven years Mr W. G. Stead was encouraged to give the veteran an opportunity at eight years of extending his winning record. The Martian gelding can, however, apparently be regarded as a back number so far as high-class racing is concerned, and possibly his retirement is not far away. Sasanof has won something like £19,000 in stakes, and as a winner of the Melbourne Cup and New Zealand Cup he holds a unique record.

A writer in the Christchurch “Sun” says: Mr G. D. Greenwood has Gloam. ing, Pluto, and Egotism engaged at the Feilding meeting, but it is by no means certain that they will make the trip north. Gloaming has come on a good deal of late, and may be ready to race in the Islington Plate and Auckland Plate at the A.R.C. meeting, tltough he can hardly be at his best by then. Amythas appears to be none the worse for his two hard races at Riccarton last week, and a meeting between him and Gloaming at Ellerslie is being eagerly looked forward to.

Right out in front.—Alf Mahon’s Stock of Men’s Wear. Call on the Sports’ Mercer when you are in town.*
