WOODVILLE
The concert given in aid of the Methodist Church organ fund was a decided success, the hopes of the promoters being realised in that the sum of £lO wanted to complete the amount required for the purchase of the new organ, was raised, and a further sum of £3, which will go towards the music fund. The choir, under the baton of Mr John Edwards, pleasingly rendered .three anthems. Songs were also given by Mesdames Bayley and Edwards and Messrs McCullagh and Bailey, all of which were much appreciated. The Rev. N. Turner presided, and in the course of his remarks thanked those who had treated the large audience assembled to a most excellent 'evening’s entertainment. Supper was served by the ladies of the church. The Woodville Horticultural Society hold their annual meeting on Wednesday next, when the following motion will be put to the meeting: “That on account of the lack of interest in the work of the institution, the Society be wound up.” It is hoped the motion will not be carried, and that new energy will be put into the Society.
