Thos. Cook, an old resident of Woodville, aged 86. He had been farming in the district for very many years. He leaves a family of several sons and daughters. J War memorial.—lt is now proposed by the Borough and County that a big gateway or archway be erected at the fountain Square as a memorial to the fallen soldiers. The estimated cost is £250, and a committee has been set up to further the idea. The Salvation Army Harvest Festival was very successful. The .following aided considerably: Mesdames Shearmin, Richards, ' Mills, Goldsack, and Mrs Adjutant Parker. The holiday question is a vdxed one here. It has hitherto been controlled by the Chamber of Commerce, but in future the shop keepers will arrange the holidays, and it is hoped that this move will be more satisfactory.
