The ; golden wedding of Mr and Mrs T. W. Garner was celebrated at their residence yesterday. The happy couple were married at Dunedin in February, 1871.,
It is announced that the picture companies have nominated Mrs E. J. Righton as their representative on the Picture Censorship Board of Appeal. The Government has nominated Mrs A. R. Atkinson and Mr H. M. Gore as members of the board. ,
Cr. W. Greenhow notified the Group, County Council yesterday that he would be leaving for England on the 27th instant and would be absent for about seven months, and asked whether the Council would grant him leave of absence. The chairman (Cr. McElroy), wished Mr Greenhow a pleasant trip, and expressed the hope that when hp returned he would again take up his seat on the Council. Six month’s leave of absence were granted Mr Greenhow. A host of useful ribbons are going half price to-day, at Collinson and Cunninghame’s. This week-end reduction includes all their ribbon remnants. The half price ribbons are floral lingerie, spot lingerie, fine faille and fancy, check and cord. See advt. page 6 for some details.*
