Charles Graham, two years old, died in hospital from severe injuries caused by his clothes catching fire while playing with matches. RAILWAY ACCIDENT AT NGAIO. WELLINGTON, February 8. .At the Ngaio railway station this morning Mrs Dove, an elderly lady, crossed In front of the New Plymouth express, which was then stationary, not noticing the incoming suburban train. She was knocked down by the engine and, altnough thrown clear of the line, received severe injuries. She is now in hospital. SCALDED TO DEATH. DUNEDIN, February 8. John Joseph McGrath, aged 15 months, died in hospital as the result of scalds received by falling in a tub of water. i DEATHS IN SOUTHLAND. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Elsie Beatrice Glogier, aged 16 years, who resided with her parents at Awarua Plains, died in the Southland Hospital this morning while under an anaesthetic. Deceased underwent an operation for the removal of tonsils and adenoids. Sydney James Hogg, of Orepuki, who was seriously injured in the head through a fall from the steeplechaser Kihow at Orepuki last Thursday, died in the Kiverton Hospital on Monday night. Deceased, who was 22 years of age, leaves a widow and one child.
