DAMV*:VIRKE DOINGS. A goat auctioned at Mr D. McDonald's .sale at Rua Roa, was sold several times over, realising: altogether £lO, the money going- to Dr Barnado's Homes. At Napier Anglican Cathedral the wedding took place of Mrs W. Cato, of Napier, to Mr S. Macfarlane, manager of the Dannevirke branch of the H.B. Farmers' Association. Very Rev. Dean Mayne officiated. Mr H. J. Harrison, an old resident of Rakaia, Canterbury, who died suddenly this week, was a brother of Mr P. B. Harrison, of Dannevirke. The annual mile race was held by High School pupils on the Domain on Wednesday afternoon, the result being: Massie 1, Henderson and Drew dead heat for second place. Time, smin. 5 4-5 sec.
The Wesley Tennis Club opened the season on Wednesday at its grass courts. There was a large attendance of members and friends, and afternoon tea was provided. Big prices were obtained for grade Jerseys at Mr D. McDonald's sales. Prices for these cattle went up to £52, pedigree Jerseys 77 gns; average for a line, 56$ gns. The whole of the herd of cows, 56 in number, including several with three-quarters, averaged £3 3 10/.
