MANAWATU HUNT.
About the largest “field” of the Season assembled at Rangitikei Line on Saturday afternoon for a run with the hounds, and the beautiful afternoon tempted out one of the largest crowds of spectators so far this season, Among those following were a number of new riders, who shaped remarkably well for their first essay in the pigskin following hounds. Some new country was broken, and the three runs into which the hunt was divided brought forth some splendid fencing. The drags were laid by Messrs T. Taylor on Burlom and I. Shaw on Trojan, and the following were among those who rode to hounds: —Messrs J. Shaw (deputv master in charge), on Kaka; J. Sexton (huntsman), Paka; M. Free (lion, whip). Consul; W. Taylor, Chaban; H. D. Batchelar. Khamsin; T< Shaw, Greylight; I. 1 Shaw, Trojan; D* B. McEwen. Belle; R. Lawrence, Patariki; N. Vile. Roney; D. Buick, King’s Medallist; A. Buick. Dr. Jim; D. Vile, Kenepuru; A. Sexton, Te Pei; A. L. Nathan, Bobby; L. Shaw, Black Ada; M. Wood. Playboy; J. Crook, Ghori; W. E. Thomas. Mazda; F. R. Waller, Motokio; H. Waller, Portraiture; G, McKeeman, Portraiture: G. V. Shannon, Jack; W. Davey, Gentle Lady; Len. Little, Chatauqua; L. T. McLean, Baron; W. Scott. Skipper; G. Perry, Lotherious; W. G. Booth, Kokori; W. H. Jacobs, Silver Cloud; J. Waller, Zanol: B. Stevens, Nellie, W. Gosnell, Skysyl; T>. E. Batchelar. Nibbler; and others. At the conclusion of the hunt the whole assemblage was entertained at afternoon tea at the residence of Mr J. Shaw by Mr and Mrs G. W. Shannon, Mr and Mrs L. H. Collinson, and Mr and Mrs J. Shaw, to whom was passed a hearty vote of thanks, proposed by the president of the hunt, IVIr S. R. Lancaster, a similar vote being also accorded to property owners. The next hunt will be held at Kairanga on Wednesday. .
