HOSPITAL BOARD UNDECIDED.

The Department of Public Health wrote to the Palmerston North Hospital Board asking- for some definite to when the Board was going to take over the cottage hospital at Otaki The Board had agreed to take over portion of the institution,,on condition that the sanitorium for consumptives, which was included in the buildings, was taken over by the Government. It was decided to hold over final consideration of the matter until next if* pptinsr , Mr Hornblow moved that the Board urge upon the Department to continue its administration of the cottage hospital.—The motion was briefly discussed and carried, although protests were made against discussion on the whole subject until next meeting. Mr Hornblow then gave notice of motion to rescind the Board's resolution of September, 1918, which read as follows: "That this Board agrees to the Health Department taking over the Otaki hospital institutions on the understanding that the consumptive portion becomes a Government institution entirely and the cottage hospital at the end of the war or when the Government so desire be again taken over by the Palmerston North Hospital Board." Mr Penn (Otaki) also gave notice of motion as follows: "That this Board notifies the Health authorities that it will be prepared to take over the cottage hospital at Otaki at the end of the financial year."
