Y.M.C.A. CAMPAIGN.
THIRD DAY’S ’’“RESULTS” LUNCHEON.
The chairman, Mr J. C. Young", announced Mrs Hugh Akers’ generous backing of the Workers’ endeavour to qualify for Mr Short’s £IOOO prize by adding" another £SOO to that of her husband, who was the inspiration and initial giver in this campaign. Seven out of the ten have been secured. Mr Wallace, the most successful team captain to date, spoke of the readiness of the people to give, and said we w-ould yet have to apologise to those who had been accidentally passed over. Mr Edmunds, military secretary of the Y.M.C.A., said the present rate of progress and enthusiasm bid fair to eclipse Timaru’s effort, which, for the present year, was so far the most successful campaign yet held.
