ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH.

EVANGELISTIC campaign. Mr John Bissett, from Auckland, who has come to Palmerston North at tlie invitation of the session of St. Andrew's Church to hold a 15-day special mission, inaugurated the same yesterday, by taking- both services. In the morning: he preached to a splendid congregation, on the Transfiguration. The Evangelist divided the story into the following heads: (1) The nearness of Heaven to Earth; (2) the blessedness of identity in a future world; (3) the dire need for agression in Christian service. Mr Bissett made a strong appeal to the members and adherents for their co-operation and sympathy. Miss Bissett, who takes the part of soloist to the mission, has a powerful alto voice, and sang as a solo "Have Thine Own Way, Lord." In the afternoon at 2.:!0 a iinited Bible Class rally was held in the church, which was attended not only by St. Andrew's Bible Classes, but also by St. David's. The Methodist and Baptist Churches also sent contingents from (heir classes, so that the whole centre of the church was filled with young people. Mr Bissett spoke on the "Four Half-way Houses" oul of the land of Egypt into the land of Canaan. There was a fine response at the close to .Mr Uissett's appeal. Miss Bissett sang Jude's rendering or "Take ray Life and Let it be." In (he evening there was a large congregation which listened to a great exposition and appeal from ("he text, ""What Shall ft profit a, man if lie gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" Miss Bissett sail,';- Jude's rendering of "Jnsf as ! am." Mr Bissett made a profound impression on his hearers yesterday.
