TAUPIRI EXTENDED MINE.
RESULT OF AN INSPECTION. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Yesterday. An inspection of the Taupiri Company's Extended Coal-mine was made on Saturday by the inspecting engineer to the Mines Department. Mr Heed states that he is of opinion there is practically no danger connected with No. 5 section, above which surface cracks have appeared- There is movement in progress in this section, he says, but as there is some nine chains of solid coal between it and the Waikato River, no danger need be apprehended. In regard to No. G rise, which is under the river, there is no immediate danger. Although danger may eventually arise there, it will be slow in coming.
