WOOL SALES.
PRICES STILE SOARING. [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 22. The wool sales have closed the highest of the series. There was good competition throughout. Franco was particularly active, and the United States, helped by exchange, purchased freely, especially good style of wools. Home trade was active. Seventy thousand bales were catalogued, and practically all was sold. ‘Super combing merinos were keenly competed for, particularly by the United States and France, and was from ten per cent to fifteen pci* cent above last closing average. Inferior combings were five pm* 1 cent up. Carbonising were full, July rates. Fine crossbreds were in good demand for the Continent and Yorkshire, and ten per cent up. Medium was five per cent up; low firm was unchanged; fine scoureds ten per cent up; low slightly dearer; fine slipes harder, hut others were unchanged. New Zealand Lumsden Hills brought 2/4, average 2/2. 1
