[Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Sunday. 5.5 p.m.) BERLIN, August 22. There was much ceremony when President Ebert took the oath in the National Assembly at Weimar. Great crowds participated. Ebert, in a speech, emphasised the need of labour in the Empire’s service, in order to rebuild the Fatherland, whose new vital principle would be freedom and right. The Assembly has formed a now Foreign Committee, of which Scheidernann is president, and I fie Centralist, Spahu, is vice-president.
