CATTLE TICK.
APPEARANCE IN AUCKLAND. A TAIHAPE RESOLUTION. (Per Pres? Association.) TAIHAPE, Yesterday. A large meeting of farmers was held at Taihapc this morning. After a lengthy discussion, it was unanimously resolved that 11 this meeting views with considerable alarm the reported appearance of cattle-tick in the Auckland province, and spreading over a considerable area, thus demonstrating the fallacy of the theory that cattle-tick could not exist south of the 21th parallel of latitude; that the Government bo requested to take such steps as will entirely coniine the post to the area already affected, and will eventually effect its eradication. Note —At the present time there is nothing to prevent tick-infested cattle from being trucked and driven for sale'to districts that are perfectly clean, and if the stringent measures arc not promptly taken the pest will soon be a prevalent calamity through the length and breadth of the land. ”
