Advice has just been received telling’ of the arrival about the middle of next month of Lieut. Bog. Donald and Sapper C. A. P. Dixon, both formerly of Gollinson and Cunninghamc’s staff. The engagement is announced of Miss Jean . Buchanan Speedy, eldest daughter of Mr D. G. Speedy, of Awapiri, Dannevirke, to Mr J. L. Masterton, of Hastings and Scotland. Mr Campbell Ball, Papatawa, H. 8., has 'received word that his cousin, Cecil Chesterton, journalist, and younger brother of G. K. Chesterton, the well known writer, has succumbed to influenza while on active service in France.

The Bov. J. Napier. Milne, who has recently come to New Zealand after occupying important charges in Hull, Glasgow and London, has bev i appointed to the pastorate of ‘Whitelcy Memorial Church, New Plymouth, in succession to the Eev. W. A. Sinclair.

Amongst those discharged from the Military Forces at Rotorua during last week was Private Vv. H. Frye, of the N.Z.M.C., who has for the past two months been attached to tin hospital headquarters staff. Mr Frye will be remembered with extreme gratitude by all who were at the Awapuai Camp during the influenza epidemic, as it was mainly due to his untiring and unselfish devotion to duty and skilful nursing that many owe their lives. Regret has been expressed by all ranks that failing health made it necessary for him to be boarded” out of tho service.

At the meeting of the A. and P. Association yesterday, Mr Maurice Cohen, wrote stating that his continual illhealth had -prevented him from takingan active part in the affairs of the Association, and as Ids doctor had recommended a trip for his health’s sake, he left it in the committee’s’ hands as to whether he should continue one of its members. Mr Hodder moved that a letter bo sent to Mr Cohen expressing the Association’s thanks for bis -work in the past, and their sympathy in his. illness, with the hope that he would soon regain his health. The motion, was passed.

At the meeting of tlie A. and P. Association yesterday, Mr J. M. Johnston moved that the relatives of the late Mr D. Buick, M.P., should be asked to give a photograph of the deceased gentleman to be hung in the committee room. Mr Buick had been the chairman of the lirst meeting held to form the association though he had never been its president. He had done excellent work for the association and had always been one of the most enthusiastic helpers and supporters. Tin; motion was carried.
