Mr Adara McDonald who was injured while riding in the hurdle race on the second day of the Manawatu meeting, has left the hospital, and was present at the Marton races yesterday. Among the passengers by the Niagara was Captain H. B. BurreH., of the Royal Air Service, who, with Mr H. Burrell, of, Feilding, is staying at the Royal Hotel, Auckland. Major J. W. and Captain J. L. Findlay, sons of Sir John Findlay, M.P. for" Hawke 's Bay, returned to New Zealand on furlough from active service, reaching Auckland in R.M.S Niagara. They were accompanied by Lady Findlay. A letter received from London yesterday stated that Mr Pearce Luke, son of Mr J. P .Luke, C.M.G., M.P. (Mayor of "Wellington), had been selected to go to Portugal on a special mission on behalf of the British Government. Mr Luke, who is an electric.?] engineer, went Home over three years ago in order to represent Messrs. J. Jj Niven and Co. However, he subsequently took a position under the Ministry of Munitions, ultimately becoming manager of a shell factory near Manchester.
