Magistrate’s Court.

ALLEGED FORGERY. At the Magistrate's Court on Saturday, before Mr W. C. K. Kendrick, S.M., Arthur Robinson ,uila K A. Robinson, alias G Hill, alias G. Thompson, alias J. McFarland, was charged with forging on June 29th at Palmerston a cheque for £8 10s on the Bank of Now Zealand, purporting to be signed by F. Roberts, and uttering same to George Thomas Orme; with forging a cheque at Carterton on December 23rd, .1916, for £1.2 on the Bank of Australasia, Featherston, purporting to be signed by John McMaster, and with uttering the same to Sidney Davis; also with forging a cheque on June 11th, 19.17, on the Union Bank of Australia, Napier, for £lO. purporting to be signed by T. H. Lowry, and uttering same to Charles Diamond, on July 13, 1917; using a valueless cheque for £ls on the Bank of New Zealand and obtaining from William Dentico the sum of fills by false pretences. Accused is a middle-aged man, and was arrested on Friday night by Dctectivc-Sergt. Quirke and Constable Culloty under the name of A. Robinson. Accused was remanded to September 21st. Several other charges arc to bo preferred against accused at Palmerston and a number of others at Napier.
