THE ANZAC CLUB.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I have talked with a number of people recently about the Anzaa Club proposal, and most of them seem to be about of the- opinion of your correspondent "Subscriber," vijJL that it would be a great mistake spend a large sum of money in erecting a huge building when the amount provided could be used to a much more useful purpose in helping our maimed, and indigent soldiers when they return. It would, it is thought by many, be an excellent thing if the' Club were erected on a big section of land in one of the suburbs and fitted with workshops and tools so that the men. could be encouraged to mutual selfhelpfulness. An Anzac Club which embraces none of these advantages will fall into disuetude within a few years. We are getting more experience in these matters every day, and it is clear now that no ordinary club will serve the purpose aimed at. I hope Mr Percy MeHardy, who is noted for his practical grasp of affairs and his great love for our soldiers, will put on his considering cap and give us all a lead in doing the right thing, because the' wrong thing once done can never be remedied.—l am, etc,
SOLDIER'S FATHER.
