The Price of Meat.

THE I'HOBtxBhE INCREASE

Interviewed by a "Wairarapa Age'' representative, Mr James Milne, secretary of the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company, stated that no official information had yet been received regarding the anticipated increase in the price of meat sold to the Imperial authorities. Personally, he thought there was every probability of the price of New Zealand meat being at least equal to that of New South Wales. The New South Wales prices are at present as follows: —Lamb, 6%d per lb. f.0.b.; mutton, 5%d; beef, 4%d. The prices paid in New Zealand last season were: Lamb, 5%d f.0.b.; mutton, 4%d; be«£, Mr Milne expressed the opinion that the prices for the coming season might be, fixed from month to month. At the present he could not state what the opening prices for the coming season were likely to be.
