Miss Mavis Collins, a Convent pupil was a successful candidate in the recent Royal Academy Musical examinations.
Mr H. W. Kirkwood, the wellknown Palmerston artist, has received advice that his two sons Harry William Kirkwood, formerly of the Justice Department, Wellington, and Boy Kirkwood, of Australia, have been wofmded at the Dardanelles, and are both in English hospitals.
j Mr J. Nelson, who has been a memJber of the Palmerston Fire Brigade i fior 26 years, has resigned. Mr Nelson \was a very active member of the brii gade, and in his earlier days took part >n and was successful in many competitions. Besides holding a number of medals, he is in possession of the long service star. "4/11 a leg—seats free!
