By Electric Telegragh—Press Association—Copyright. (Times. —Sydney Sun Service.) Received 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Mav 30.
The report of the committee of the Department of Agriculture on technical education in Ireland states that the mortgage indebtedness of Irish land is probably increasing bv two millions annually. The money-lenders have greatly increased whilst the gobetween man has almost disappeared, but injurious amounts of long credit with shops have been found in various districts, much of them for feeding stuffs which the farmer could himself grow. The savings of the rural classes amounting to many millions have be>n withdrawn from productive use locally and transferred for investment ! » London. It adds that assistance to the economic progress of rural Ireland would be possible if only part of this money was available for lending to small farmers. WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR DRINK TO BE BETTER?
