MAORIS IN ENGLAND

Mackenzie accompanied the Aiixori "King" and his followers on a visit to Sir John Gorst, who was Civil Commissioner in Waikato during the Maori war and who is now recruiting at Margate. There was an affecting meeting with Taingahawa, whose father saved Sir John Gorst's life during the Maori war. Hon. T. Mackenzie to-day introduced the Maoris to the Hon. L. Hareoart, who promised to assist them i'i ►securing an audience with the King •>n the understanding that it was a freely courtesy call and no grievances were discussed. t Mr Mackenzie explained the constitutional position to xhc Maoris, who rao?v r understand that. Mr llarcourt and the King will receive them as bearers of historic names.
